Carbon footprints
Carbon footprints are defined as the amount of pollution
you create each year from the way you eat, drink, live, breathe, water
your lawn, recreate, even sleep.
There are many tests online that can help you determine what your carbon
footprints are. Before you do one of these tests, you should understand
what of questions the test may ask you. The questions include:
• What kind of building do you live in? This question comes with
a few options of different types of buildings. You can choose from a
residential home, a duplex or four-plex, a small apartment building
or a large apartment building.
• How many bedrooms are in your home? By determining how many
bedrooms you have, the calculator can better understand what kind of
effort it takes to make sure that your home stays heated and how many
people in the home there might be.
• Where do you live? Some states are notoriously bad at keeping
up with environmental issues, while there are other states that are
much better at it. The state in which you live can help determine the
pollution level of the things you do and use.
• Do you drive any cars? Driving cars obviously releases emissions
into the atmosphere. The thinking behind this question is that if you
do not drive a car, you are able to greatly reduce the amount of emissions
in the air.
• How often do you fly? Sometimes people do not think of all the
pollution that planes cause, but the fact is that this is a significant
factor. Of course, the planes are probably going to fly anyway, regardless
of if you are on board or not.
Answering these questions will allow the computer calculator to calculate
what your carbon footprints might be. Many of these programs all give
you valuable information about small ways you can begin to reduce your
personal impact on the planet.
